In September 2019, Charmaine Dalton was presented with the Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal (West Africa clasp) by the The Governor-General of Australia, His Excellency General (Retd) David Hurley AC DSC.

This medal is presented to those who perform humanitarian service in a foreign country, in particular those working in dangerous environments or during a humanitarian crisis.

During 2014-15, Charmaine deployed to West Africa as the head nurse of a 100 bed Ebola Treatment Unit in Liberia, and later crossed the border to Sierra Leone in the role of lead Clinical Trainer as part of the international response to the largest Ebola epidemic in history.

Congratulations to all sixty-six recipients of the medal.
